How to prevent sickness
Take care of newborn is not an easy it it a big responsibility taking care of his health you can’t prevent sickness completely by you can reduce the possibility of infection
There are some tips that help me
A newborn baby has a weak immune system so every little mistake can make him sick in different ways, so we must know at least the first precaution to avoid sickness and everyone who deals with the baby should know them
First general instructions
• wash your hand carefully especially, before touching your newborn, before and after changing diapers, and before breastfeeding or pumping breast milk.
• family /visitors should wash their hands before touching the baby
• gently, keep anyone who has a cough, or fever away from the baby
• if you are sick wear a mask when you hold your newborn
• call your newborn’s doctor if the soft spot on the baby’s head is bulging/sunken
If your baby suffers from a stuffy nose :
A stuffy nose is normal after feeding without fever or sickness so in this case, use a bulb syringe (put pic ), call the doctor if your baby’s breathing changing if it is slow /down/ noisy.
Get help immediately if your baby looks pale or dusky blue.
If your baby sneezes, hiccups, or yawns:
All of these things are normal in the first weeks, if hiccups bother your baby try to feed him
If your baby has a fever :
Take his temperature,
• Don’t take a temperature right after a bath or if the baby has been bundled for some time
• use a digital thermometer and take the temperature from the butt ( rectum ) it is the most accurate
• ear thermometer is not reliable for babies under 6 months of age
• call the doctor if your newborn has fluids coming from the eyes, ears, or nose / if white patches in your baby’s mouth that can’t be wiped way
• call the emergency if your newborn has (100.4° F) or (38° c) or higher
