How to make your home safe?

At the beginning of my married life, I didn’t think about kids and their needs, and I didn’t prepare my house For them so when my first baby came and start to move, crawl and start to discover the world, I was surprised and said “there was a lot of work to make my home safe for my little kids “
so in this article, I will share some tips that may release some stress from your brain.
Try thinking like a kid hard as you can and you will find what the dangers at your home.

First, sort your home by room

  1. (Living room )
•My t.v has wires and when my first baby starts crawling he pulled out these wires so I have to solve this problem, my husband hides wires in ducts and moves the plug up behind the t.v so our kid can’t play there even more so take a look for a while to your living room and think about what can attract your kid attention and ask your self is it dangerous or not and start working on it.
    • remove vases and everything made of glass
    • make sure that you lock windows properly so that kids can’t open it
    • batteries, magnets, coins, paper pins, and small plastic parts remove it all out of the baby’s reach because they will be swallowed causing chocking
  2. (kitchen)
    • when I was cooking I put my baby in his car seat on the floor and he was watching me but day after day he started crawling and then trying to stand up by using everything he thinks it was helping him, I have drawers I was putting glasses bowls so I removed it all and replaced them by plastic items storage boxes so he can play with them till I finished. when he was one year and a half he used the last drawer to reach the counter, I tell him no and carry him out from the drawers but he repeats this so I remove the last drawer for a few months. My kids used to play beside me while cooking but I have one rule if I boil water or use hot oil no playing in the kitchen, play away from the stove.
    • my grandmother always says if there are kids never use the front burners of the stove use the back burners only.
    • keep sharp appliances such as ( blenders, graters, knives, peelers, and also kitchen processor with all of its parts) away from reach of children
    • I’ve tried a door locker for the refrigerator door but my son removes it immediately so when I am sure there is no hope of leaving the refrigerator I make a deal when I need something from it I ask him (ex: pls can you bring one cucumber for me?) It was a task for him, he was happy and stop opening the door for no reason.
    • never play with stove keys, matches
    • never run with metal spoons / forks
  3. (ladder)
    • if you have a ladder in your home please take care, my kids start climbing the ladder before they can stand up and they can’t descend the ladder by themselves so if you will be in this trouble you can buy a stair gate to keep your kids away from the ladder (pic of stair gate)
  4. (Bedroom)
    • if your baby sleeps in your bed, you can buy a bed barrier or put pillows on the floor for safety and never sleeps in darkness to watch the baby properly so the baby night light will help you
    • I don’t buy changing tables for my kids but if you do please never leave the baby lying on it alone bring diapers, soothing creams, clothes, and all you will need before start changing diapers.

5.(bathroom)
• put laundry detergent, cleaning products, and medicines away from your baby’s hand, the safest place is in a high cabinet or closed storage space.
• electric shavers must be in high cabinets

I hope that this article are useful for you and when the children grow up you found something new to take care about it’s a journey full of tiny details
Just enjoy and found ways to relieve your stress .
