Caring after cesarean delivery

When I was pregnant with my first baby I was afraid of the moment of delivery, I used to go for a walk to make it easy.

The moment gets closer and I go to the hospital for delivery, nurses start to prepare me, and every hour a doctor comes to check my uterus then the doctor decides to induce labor it was painful and I wish I could end this moment and see my baby fine, after that the baby head is not at the correct position so the doctor decides to do a cesarean delivery, finally I heard my baby cry after the operation staff get my baby out from my body the happiest moment ever. so if you delivered naturally or by c-section you are a hero as a result of withstanding the pain.

The important point after delivery is to understand how to take care of your body.

some hospitals send instructions on how to take care of yourself and your newborn during the postpartum period, and other hospitals don’t send these instructions so we are here to help each other

These general and simple pieces of information every mom need to know to help herself to overcome a postpartum period

First: when you are in the hospital

  1. be sure to inform nurses when you are having pain and it’s intense, where the pain is located cause they know how to help you feel better
  2. If you decide to breastfeed you may feel the painful contraction it is useful to help your uterus get back to its normal size
  3. it is normal to have some bleeding after delivery, you may pass small clots so do not flush down until the nurse look at it
  4. Your (IV) tube will be removed when you are drinking enough fluids
  5. You should feel you want to empty yours. Bladder after 6-8 hours from the urine catheter tube removed will be removed after 6-8hours after delivery

•You should know that hormones changes after delivery, these changes may make you feel sad or tearful it should not last a few days, if these feeling last longer than that, you should talk to your caregiver.

•Don’t forget if you desired to talk to your caregiver about contraception

•talk to your caregiver if there’s immunization you should take before leaving the hospital

•the best thing I do and helps me to fast recovery after a c-section is walking, when I feel I can I start with baby steps, every 2 hours I was walking in my room for 5 minutes after 5 days, I feel good and the pain was possible with pain relievers.

These days were so hard, it was difficult to cough and laugh. You have to accept your weakness and ask for help if you can’t do anything.

These days move so fast and your baby will grow up day after day and you will forget your pain, but you never forget the whole experience from fear to love
